Diane (DeDe) Dawson is an Associate Librarian (Science and Scholarly Communication) at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada. DeDe’s academic background is in biology (BSc from Trent University) and earth sciences (MSc in invertebrate paleontology from St Francis Xavier University). She worked for several years in the paleontology lab and collections of the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto before deciding to pursue librarianship (MLIS from Western University). As a librarian, DeDe’s professional practice supports the research and teaching of various science disciplines at USask, and as a faculty member she also has an active research program centred around scholarly communication, open access, and advocating for a transition to more equitable and sustainable journal publishing models. She is working with the ScholComm Lab on the RPT project.
