Andrea Whiteley is a short-term postdoctoral researcher at the ScholCommLab with funding from Mitacs and the United Way of the Lower Mainland. She is working on a developmental evaluation of the Community Scholars Program at Simon Fraser University under the guidance of Dr. Juan Pablo Alperin. Dr. Whiteley is also a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto working with Dr. Chloë Atkins on a phenomenological study aimed at understanding the experiences of people living with physical disabilities and supporting themselves in the work force. For her PhD dissertation, “From access to praxis: The case for open access in the humanities and social sciences and the public good”, Andrea asked stakeholders outside of the university about their access to research needs and developed a theory of knowledge flow to push scholarly communication beyond a one-way communication model of knowledge dissemination.
